Proactive or Procrastination?

The title is a question everyone must answer for themselves. (or you can just ask your mom, or dad, or whatever IDC.) Personally, I think I'm kind-of a proactive-procrastinator. Ask my mom, and she'll tell you that I slack on my chores. And any sort of distraction, Whoo boy! Will I get distracted! I'm like: Ok, time to start the dishes- wait- it that- a MOVIE PLAYING?!?!?!? What was I talking about again? Part of the problem is that I have a not-so-good memory. If I'm distracted, I usually forget what I was supposed to do. But when I do be proactive, (it happens every once-in-a-while) I go ALL OUT. EVERYTHING gets done. Right then. Right there. No excuses.

And when that happens, I usually have more time left over to do whatever I want. So yeah, I really WANT to be proactive, but Nooooooooo My stupid brain is just like SIT. ON. THAT. COUCH. NOW. Dishes can wait. THAT COUCH NEEDS YOU! And that cat too. So just grab that cat and go sit on the couch, and forget everything you were obligated to do. Let the dishes sit. And when THAT happens, I get in trouble, and the dishes take LONGER that I wanted them to. Thus I get less free time. But when I'm proactive, it takes LESS time than I want it to. And I get MORE free time. Man, I can't do anything right.

Usually the only times I get lots of stuff done is in the morning. Not just any morning though, it has to be a morning that I'm making breakfast. Still, not just any breakfast, It has to be pancakes. Yes. Pancakes motivate me to do stuff. Actually, I lied earlier in this paragraph. It dosen't have to be pancakes for me to do stuff. But pancakes are usually what I make. Wait a minute... How did I get from talking about procrastination to taking about pancakes? Like I said, distractions.

If I could only get over that whole "Distractions" thing I deal with, I could be like, Super Productivity. I could get EVERYTHING done SUPER fast. I would be like flash just got some super-speed boots. Ok, perhaps that's an exaggeration, but I will get a lot of stuff done. The exception? Dishes. Yeah, I really don't like doing dishes one way or another. But that's the ONLY exception. Sometimes I do dishes though. Sometimes.

...Have a nice day? (I guess...)

Lessons Learned

Hello! I'm back with more updates on the HIKI NO news project. (WARNING the following is highly classified information that you may allow NO ONE to view.) (Except you.) (and your friend.) (and your family.) (and everyone you know.) (and everyone you've ever met/seen ever in the history of your life.) But anyway, this is going to be a long post, so hold on to your seat! (or something.)

This project has been very interesting. However, if I had to pick the most interesting thing that happened, it's probably been the first interview. Have you ever walked up to a complete and total stranger and ask them if you can ask them some questions and then ask the questions as if you were their best friend. Try it sometime! (P.S. you probably shouldn't do that...) Anyway, the interview went pretty smoothly, and it (for some reason) wasn't too awkward, and the interviewee was nice about the whole thing. So yeah, it was exiting. I personally thought we were on a roll! But there's waaaaaay more to do than that.

However, this project has also been very challenging. The biggest roadblock my team has had to face is really getting the B-roll sufficient to cover the interviews. This part was challenging. It's a little bit awkward to just show up at a store with a bunch of equipment, telling someone we made an appointment and asking them if we can film some stuff. But without the B-roll, we couldn't finish the project, so we had to do it. It was actually pretty fun, (after we got permission) because that place is big. And it's filled to the brim with interesting things. (who knew yoga was a sport???) So, in the end, we got all the B-roll that we needed, and all the interviews too, so we were almost done. But not quite! All that was left to do was the final editing.

Personally, I think the most valuable part of the film-making process is the quality of the equipment used. If you don't have good equipment, you don't have good film. It also matters if you have some equipment. Without a tripod, videos taken will be shaky and unbalanced. And without a proper microphone, sound quality is pretty much junk. However, how you use the equipment is almost as important as having it. If a camera isn't focused, people watching the film won't be able to see what's going on. And if the zoom on the camera is all the way out or all the way in, it can be confusing. That pretty much concludes what I learned from the film-making me and my team are doing.

Wish me luck on the project!

Back to School

HELLO!!

Its me, Linden.
So far, school has been mostly fine. My favorite moment was probably on the first day of school. Being faced with the responsibility of all this "switching classes" shenanigans (along with electives) and not to mention G.T.'s expectations, (M.r. Sandrel, I'm talking to YOU), has got to be one of the most exiting things I've faced in school. That also brings me to the biggest challenge of the school year. If you guessed G.T., then BINGO!! Tell him what he's won Jay! Its a whole bunch of expectations and advanced computing! WOW! Sounds FUN huh? It actually is kinda fun. They don't have that in Elementry School do they? (P.S. its really cool. : D). Anyway, I kinda feel like I'm ranting, so lets move on. To be successful this year, well, Ill just do what I try do every year! Listen to instructions and lectures and stuff and complete all assignments to the best of my ability. And if by now you think I'm a nerd, well, (you might be right. :3 )

Signing Off,
